What Causes Frequent Racing Of Heart?

HI, i dont know if this is valid or if I am talking to a dr. but i wanted to just ask anyway. I'm 5'4, 153 pds. and my heart races sometimes. Not fast but different sometimes. When its hot or i'm tired and do not get enough sleep or dehydrated. My mom kind of has the same thing. I know i have to lose at least 20 more pds. and my son is 19 mths. and i have alot of stress on me right now. I wonder what it is? I had a thryoid issue but its clear now and normal, they said it was a lack of iodine since delivery my son and it was out of whack but its fine now i just monitor it now. thanks

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that it is quite normal to experience ectopic heart beats or palpitations during physical or emotional stress in every healthy person.

Overweight, sleep deprivation, dehydration, coffee intake, etc.. can trigger this clinical scenario.

But they are not indicative of any serious medical disorder. They are related to a normal physiological reaction of the body, activating the sympathetic nervous system and leading to increased levels of adrenaline.

So, there is nothing to worry about!

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing good health,

Dr. Iliri
