What Causes Frequent Leg Cramping With History Of Pulmonary Embolism?

I experienced a pulmonary embolism after straining me left ankle two years ago. Since then I frequently experience severe leg cramps in the left calf and cramps in both upper leg muscles. These cramps happen 2 to 3 times a week depending on activity level. What could be causing them?

Most common cause of pulmonary embolism is deep vein thrombosis of leg.
I will suggest you to do colour Doppler study of the legs and consult the cardiovascular thoracic surgeon.
