What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements Containing Mucus?

Hi .. I am 19 years old and 6.5 weeks postpartum from giving birth .. I had all the normal things happen afterwards , all the bleeding and everything .. I had a 3rd degree tear with a tear in my anal sphincter muscles and my placenta was stuck in my uterus .. the dr went in multiple times with her hand to get my placenta out .. then sewed me up .. Now I started my normal first postpartum period about a half week ago (normal) .. but I keep having very soft stools to the point of I m going multiple times a day and I feel like I have to go almost constantly .. theres no blood in my stools that I know of , but it looks like my stool is mixed with a clear mucus .. im very gassy as well and Ive been wondering if I have an internal hemorrhoid on top of all this .. I was wondering if there was something to worry about with soft stools nd possibly mucus in them being 6.5 weeks postpartum ?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

I have read your whole query and understand the concern.

The usual reason for this is impacted hard feces causing the clear mucus only discharge through anus during bowel movements.

The another reason can be a mass or something inside like internal hemorrhoids which you are thinking or some intestinal worm.

So,you will need clinical examination by a Surgeon - per rectal examination can help to find out the exact reason.

Routine blood works and stool examination for ova, cyst and reducing substance should also be done.

However, there is no need to be worried much as this kind of problems can be managed well with appropriate treatment,so it is better to be concerned than being ignorant.

You can take antibiotics and albendazole 400 mg as a de-worming but you will need prescription from some local doctor or GP,otherwise consult surgeon for complete treatment.

The definitive treatment will be based on the diagnosis.

Hope this helps.
