What Causes Foul-smelling Stools With A History Of Ulcerative Colitis?

I have had an ileostomy for over 20 years due to ulcerative colitis. For the past few weeks I have had foul smelling feces, no stomach pain or other symptoms. I have not been eating anything different than my normal diet. I also have a low iron count.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, what the condition you have of bad odor fecal material then it may not be due to any disease, or the old history of ileostomy done, but it could be due to constipation, not passing the stool on regular basis, may be lack in fiber in diet.
I would advise you to drink more water, have more fiber containing diet, try to keep the regular habit of defecation, avoid greasy, oily, animal fat containing diet (Meat and other food similar to this ) eat more fresh leafy vegetable, hope this information helps.
