What Causes Fluid Retention After Open Heart Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery?

I had open heart Aortic valve replacement surgery on 7/22/15. I have been doing very well or so I thought. I now seem to be retaining water in huge amounts, I have gained 15 pounds in the past 2 weeks. Yesterday, I started to get short of breath too. I took a water pill this morning. Do these valves go bad sometimes. My surgeon has not returned my call yet?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is the clinical condition of edema due to cardiac, or renal failure then it needs to be ruled out because with the history of valvular heart disease this is likely condition and it need to be taken seriously it may be congestive cardiac failure too, hope this information helps.
