What Causes Flaky Stool?

Im 22 years old and ive always had kind of s sensitive stomach but recently my stool has been kind of flaky, with no real substance. I would eat something then go to the bathroom right away where my stool would be soft and flaky. Then a few minutes later the same thing would happen, where i would have to rush to the bathroom. The stool has some red in it but not much, just mostly corn flake looking. What do you think

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Kind of sensitive stomach at the age of 22 is most probably indicative of IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome. You have to go for passing stool immediately on eating and the stool is flaky indicating a possibility of some inflammatory process in the intestines like appendicitis and so on.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Tests of stool, blood and urine., Ultrasonography of abdomen.A course of an antibiotic, metronidazole mad probiotics.
If this does not help to get a cure then obviously to go for CT scan of abdomen and colonoscopy with biopsy.
All these things along with an opinion of a Gastroenterologist will help to get a specific cause and if found will be treated accordingly by your Doctor.
IF all the investigations are normal then this may be an IBS and control of stress and anxiety is the mainstay of management.
Also identify the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the symptoms and stop these altogether.
I find this answer helpful
