What Causes Fibrosing Mediastinitis?

Hi I have a friend that was just diagnosed with fibrosing mediastinitis she has a collapsed lung and fluid around her heart she is on a strong dose of antibiotics and steroids. Her lymph nodes are also doubled in size causing her major breathing problems in her esophagus. She lives in Illinois and we are trying to find drs that have treated patients with this rare disease.

- unknown in 10-20 % cases
- fungus infection with Histoplasma capsulatum causing Histoplasmosis
- behcet`s disease
- autoimmune disorders
- associated with mycobacterium tuberculosis
- radiation therapy for malignancy conditions
- inflammatory conditions like sarcoidosis or others
