What Causes Fever, Swollen Gums And Infected Taste Buds?

I have had a fever for seven days, been sick with all sorts of symptoms for 14 days, and have been on Bactrum for six days. I am not improving in the slightest. My gums are swollen and my tongue is covered in infected taste buds. What could this be? I've been seen by two doctors and I'm getting no answers.
