Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fever, Sweating, Sore Throat, Runny Nose And Coughing?
I believe i have the flu, based upon what I just read on your website. Since it s a virus, I m assuming there really isn t anything I can take other than things to help reduce the symptoms? I usually don t get sick and when I do I recover quickly. I started getting a sore through Friday evening and i ve have a fever since Sunday with night sweats and a severe sore through. Taking DayQuill the past two days which has helped. My ribcage hurts from and back, when I cough, which I don t remember experiencing in the past. Should I actually go to the doctor or just plow through this? Runny nose and coughing up phlegm today.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the symptoms of mild fever, cough and runny nose and sore throat are all signs of upper respiratory tract infection commonly known as Common Cold or influenza that is known as Flu..
Both are Viral infections and antiviral medications cannot cure the illness and the treatment is definitely to relieve the symptoms rather than killing the viruses..
I would suggest you to take Acetaminophen for fever, decongestants like Pseudoephadrine, mucolytics like Ambroxol, warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room.. You can also take Cough suppressants and expectorants containing Dextroethorphan and Guaifenesin for relieving cough..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards, Honey Nandwani Arora.
