What Causes Fever Post An Open Heart Surgery In A Diabetic?

A friend had open heart surgery on Tuesday, Feb 9th and had the mitral valve replaced. His nasal swap the day before surgery on Feb 8th showed he had MRSA but they performed the surgery as scheduled. He is being treated for MRSA in recovery - I do not know which antibiotic they are using. Today he has been feeling flushed/hot/sweaty and is being given tylenol for pain/fever. He also has diabetes and they are having a hard time regulating it. What questions should we be asking the medical staff?
