What Causes Fever During Thrombophlebitis?

just looking for some information for my brother as he has a fever and has a swollen leg due to thrombophebites ..for what he was told at his last hospitalization..this has happen suddenly just a few weeks ago ..was send home to rest but at this very moment is being taken to the hospital again because of fever...he has a clog at his leg and was treated with anticoagulants as far as i know...why fever now?

Hi, welcome to healthcaremagic. Thrombophlebitis is an inflammatory process in which the chemical mediators which are formed leads to fever. Sometimes, thrombophlebitis is progressive process and because of this reason, recurrent episodes of fever may be present. For this, proper rest, application of crappe bandage over the leg, and anti-inflammatory drugs like pain killers paracetamol or ibuprofen is required which will not only reduce pain but, also reduce fever.
