What Causes Fever Along With Vomiting In An Infant?

Hello, I have a child, age 15 months. The last 3 days she has had very minimal food and fluid intake. Fever ranging from 100-103. She has vomited 4-5 time whenever she has had food/milk/formula. We have been using infant Tylenol and baby Motrin to keep fever under control. She is cutting 3 teeth at the moment, but from what i know, this should not be causing the level of discomfort she is experiencing. We went to ER yesterday and they said she had a virus and prescribed fluids (which she will not drink) and Zofran for nausea...nothing has changed. Thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Teething causes fever in toddlers but if it is high grade fever with vomiting, it is better not to ignore. Watch out baby's stool for any diarrhea. Recurrent vomiting may cause dehydration, so it is important to keep baby hydrated with fluids. Avoid milk or milk products for few days or until the symptom subsides. Continue Tyenelol, any kind of viral infection usually takes a week to subside.
