What Causes Fever Along With Lower Backache?

i took my child to the urgent care clinic with a fever ,lower back pain, with history of uti s .they did a minor inspection gave her something that was called i think decadron . my question is what is the reason for it and what does it do? any info would be greatly appreciated .and then followed by tylenol . her fever was 99degrees

Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. Uti will be treated with appropriate antibiotics after a urine culture sensitivity test. Kindly find out whether your child has any associated proteinuria of nephrotic range. In such cases usually steroids like decadron are given. Kindly confirm the diagnosis from the treating physician to be more clear. In my opinion a urine culture with sensitive antibiotics need to be given. Thanks
