There are many causes of such a complaint in your child. The redness pain and swelling could be due to an inflammatory problem such as an inflammatory arthritis of the joints in your childs foot or an infective problem such as a cellulitis or a septic arthritis. He should be seen by a physician to be assessed, have some blood work and X-rays and possibly some further investigations.
