What Causes Feeling Of Ear Clogged And Numb?

So I enjoy and really love listening to music through my iPod and earbuds. I normal play the songs (I m not to sure what the frequency is so) at around 6/16 bars volume. Since most of you know the right earbud produces most of the time the melody and the left is the beat. My ear lobes are rather small so earbuds really doesn t get in to it very well (and headphones keeps on slipping. The life of a small head) so what I do is lean my head onto my hand and so the right earbud will stay and not get out. The problem is that my right ear feels clogged and a bit numb. I was confused so i tried slapping and scratching both of my ears, I can feel more with my left than my right. The left hears sharper than the right and if I yawn my right ear feels like something stabbed into it like a plane taking off sorta feel. I tried the blocking your nose trick but didn t work. I m really scared right now if I can t listen to music anymore.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, you seem to be having blockade problem on account of two possibilities; wax/debris blocking the ear canal or Eustachian tube blockade. The other problem of ear plug not fitting is constitutional and can be avoided by using a head phone. Blockade can be removed by examination and depending upon the cause, wax or debris if present can be cleaned by an ENT. Eustachian tube blockade needs to be evaluated for cause. Use of ear plugs in itself promotes collection of debris/wax and is not recommended in those who are prone to this problem. So, please see an ENT and get a complete ear examination done. Regards
