What Causes Fast Heart Beats And Dizziness When Climbing Stairs?

My blood pressure is normal but when I climb stairs my heart will start beating really fast before I get to the fifth step. It lasts about two minutes then it calms down. also when I wake up I can t get up fast or I will get really dizzy and my heart will start racing again. I think it may be from anxiety attacks bubecause I have a childhood history of abuse but don t want it to be something more serous. I do not do any drugs or drink and take no medication so I m kind of scared about what it may be. ..I also don t know iif gaining extra belly wait is normal. .

Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Palpitations are usually due to anxiety, excitement, exercise. But it can be due to heart problems which needs to be ruled out first.

So, my advice to you is -

1. Try to calm down and avoid exertion when this type of episodes occur. Increase your stamina by daily brisk walking. Do yoga and regular exercise. This all manuovers usually benefited my most of the patients.

2.If you still will have palpitations then you should consult your doctor, preferably cardiologist and ask him about holter Monitoring. It's a 24 hrs ecg monitoring which will give definite idea whether your palpitations are dangerous or not.

I hope my guidance will help you to become more clearer about this problem..
Thank you.
