What Causes Fainting And Dizziness?

Hello, I m quite concerned about episodes of needing a poo, but this happens with fainting and dizziness, which means I have to lie on the bathroom floor and leads to mess to clean up. This usually happens once a year, but so far this year year its happened four times

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Dizziness and fainting while defecation is due to vasovagal syncope. This occurs due to over stimulation of vagus nerve, leading to decreased heart rate and blood pressure.
You can try tightening and moving your legs while defecation to improve blood supply to brain. Avoid straining while going to the bathroom.
If the problem still persists, follow up with your primary provider. EKG and detailed evaluation will be needed.

Regards
Dr.Lekshmi
