What Causes Eyes To Turn Black And Blue After Getting Hit On Forehead?

I hit my forehead 2 days ago and had a slight bruise and large knot on it. Since then both my eyes are turning black and blue and are swollen. Seems to be getting worse by the hour. I don t have any other symptoms. Should I go to the doctor anyway?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having black eyes following injury to the forehead. This is because of collection of blood in the layers of the skin of eyelids as a result of impact of injury. It is commonly seen in injuries to the face above the level of eye brow because of collection of blood in the skin of the eyelids as the skin of the eyelids is loose and gravity favors collection of blood.
The color change from black to blue is because of changes in the hemoglobin as it gets broken down and gets absorbed.
No treatment is required for this and it will get resolved by 1-2 weeks depending on the amount of blood collected in the skin of the eyelids.

Thank you
