What Causes Extreme Tiredness And Sleepiness After Taking Meclizine?

Hi my husband they just prescribe Meclizine for (vertigo). The doctor claims that is what he has. But his being filling like that because he just had eye surgery. He never suffer from this before. But he just took one pill last night and one this morning and he is so tired and sleepy. I am a little concern. Should his stop the medicine? He gave him Meclizine 25mg. He is also diabetic and he is 70 years old. This is my emailed: YYYY@YYYY

Sedation is a side effect of Meclizine .This is more prominent in elderly patients.
You can try reducing the dose of Meclizine 12.5 mg at bed time to reduce the side effects.
