What Causes Extreme Mood Swings In A Teenager?

I have a 19 yr old son getting so emotional. Recently crying so hard and mad, my wife and I, talking to him in a nice way, but he doesn't want to open up his feeling about the reason of crying. This happens maybe every 3 months( not exactly, randomly only)for the past 2 yrs.

Pls advice

Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

Your child is at very young age and having mood shifting and emotional problem

Try to elicit history regarding any acute event if occured in life including regarding study also...

You can consult him to the psychiatrist for examination and detail history

If needed behavioural counselling and suitable medication might prescribed

Try to solve any specific problem if he tells you about that

Encourage him for studying and in outdoor sports for relieving stress

Take care

Hope your concern solved
