What Causes Extreme Fatigue And Numbness?

I've been waking up with my arms and sometimes my legs in the air. I feel like I've been beaten up. I'm fatigued. I have a hard time getting to sleep, staying asleep, and waking up once I do finally fall asleep. When I wake up I'm drained and my skin is numb all over. What's going on?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. The persistent tiredness, fatiguability, sleeplessness, difficulty in waking, numbness in skin can occur due to a number of reasons. Nutritional deficiencies like Vitamin B12 deficiency, Iron deficiency anaemia etc are common reasons for such symptoms. Hypothyroidism can also cause similar symptoms. So visit a physician to rule out these conditions.

If medical conditions are ruled out then other possible causes for such symptoms are mild depression, some sleep disorder or possibly restless leg syndrome. Visit a psychiatrist to rule out these conditions. Drugs like Ramelteon or Melatonin can help to improve the sleep cycle and you will feel better. Vitamin B12 supplements also help in reducing the numbness you are having.

Hope this helps you. Thanks. Take care
