What Causes Extreme Body Pains And Vomiting In A Type II Diabetic Patient?

My husband is 54 and has type 2 diabetes. He is very active, in great shape and eats well. Today he has been in severe body pain with headaches. He has been sleeping all day and cannot eat. His sugar was 450 this afternoon (he often has high levels). What would be causing this extreme pain and vomiting?

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

I would suggest you get him to a hospital immediately
This could be the starting of diabetic ketoacidosis
While the condition is usually treatable,
ignoring it may be fatal

So i repeat, get to a hospital immediately
meanwhile give him as much water as he can consume without vomitting
check sugars regularly

check ABG and urine ketones as soon as possible

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.
