What Causes Excessive Tiredness And Swelling Under The Eyes?

Hi. Am a 33 years old female. I feel tired all the time. Can t keep up with my morning alarm any more. Came to a point where I don t even bother waiking up to work now. I waik up with my under eyes swollen and they now have dark rings under, of which is something I never experienced before.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern and going by your case history [periorbital puffiness] & age [33] following can be the possibilities:

1. sometimes due to sleep deprivation and taking too much salt [sodium] in diet can cause swelling under the eyes with dark rings

2. If into any addiction like [alcohol/tobacco]: both leads to stress,fatigue and hormonal changes leading to fluid retention and eye swelling

3. Ask for detailed urine [routine/microscopic] and renal investigation [blood urea,serum creatinine], and make sure you are not on steroids [patients of asthma/eczema]

4. It will be wise to consult a Medicine specialist for above investigations including Thyroid level [serum T3,T4,TSH], Adrenal Fatigue , or consult an Ophthalmologist for any dry eye condition, till then:

. head end elevation [during night]
. low carbohydrate diet
. Vitamin A,C,E helps prevent eye puffiness and maintain clear,moist skin

5. persistent puffiness may be a sign of serious medical condition and if excluded then surgical correction can be thought.
