Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I read your question carefully and understand your concern.

Your symptoms are very concerning about an infection. Diverticulitis may cause fever and blood from the rectum. The sweats are related to the fever (it is a physiological mechanism of the body during fever).

I would recommend consulting with your attending physician, for a careful physical examination, a routine blood test, kidney and liver function tests, blood electrolytes, a stool analysis and a fibrocolonoscopy, to search for the possible cause of this clinical scenario.

Further tests, like an abdominal CT scan may be needed to establish the diagnosis.

Hope to have been of help!

Greetings!
Dr. Iliri
