What Causes Excessive Sleeping With Yawning And Hiccups In A Child?

My three year old daughter is excessively yawning and getting the hiccups daily. She complains about the yawning which occurs countless times during the day. She sleeps 12-15hrs at night and still takes naps daily (1-3hrs). I am concerned for any underlying medical conditions

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Yawning and hiccups despite good sleep can be due to metabolic disturbance.
Yawning and hiccups can occur in cases of accumulation of excessive carbon dioxide in body and excessive hiccups can be due to excessive urea in body.
Thus, a clinical assessment and relevant investigations- air blood gases and kidney function tests are required to know the status of these parameters.
Consult your pediatrician for further work up.

Thanks and take care
