What Causes Excessive Hunger While On Verapamil?

My husband is on 24/7 o2 for bad bronchiectasis. He now has palpitations kept at bay most of the time with verapamil. he can tell when his heart is about to kick off and so he will take an extra verapamil, but this now coincides with him feeling extremely hungry, even if he has recently eaten. He feels hungry most of the time. If he eats when he feels like this it does settle his palpitations. Any ideas why this might be happening.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear. Excessive hunger may not be due to Verapamil. Verapamil may cause gastritis, indigestion etc at times.

I would suggest to get his blood sugar tested. Excessive hunger may be a sign of diabetes melitus.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
