What Causes Excessive Hair Growth On Hands Of A Girl Child?

hello! My seven year daughter has excessive hair growth on her hands and legs and of late has started getting armpit hair , long and thick. I find this unusual for a seven year old. My sister too as a child had excessive hair growth and is now diagonized as having PCOS. Is my daughter's excessive hair growth a sign of worry?

Thanks for posting your query at HealthCareMagic. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), also called hyperandrogenic anovulation, is a condition where certain hormones that are otherwise predominantly present in males, are produced in excessive amount. The body hair is a secondary male sexual characteristic and thereby present due to the excess androgens, a condition called hirsutism and virilization. As such it is not a cause of worry but the condition requires to be treated.

I hope that with this details, your query would be resolved. Feel free to communicate back in case of further queries if any.
