Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello,My Sister has been suffering with a condition in which she burps continuously and incessantly. Nothing has shown up on scopes of upper GI tract. She has taken many different kinds of OTC meds as well as some prescription ones. She has had no results. What are some things that can cause this kind of symptom? Two different GI specialist have suggested she is swallowing air.
Hello I really appreciate your concern for your sister, Burping might be related to Aerophagia (swallowing of air), Use of carbonated drinks like cola, ill fitted denture, high protein diet, indigestion or acid peptic disease due to stomach hyperacidity.
Please try to identify among these underlying cause and ask her to correct if accordingly.
If you can upload me all her reports with relevant medical history so that I will be able to guide you better.
Meanwhile ask her to have antiacidity medicines like pantoprazole or ranitidine group of drugs with antacids. Ask her to have ENO or lemon water and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in her diet
Hope this helps her Thanks for your question, please feel free to ask for any further assistance. Best wishes
