What Causes Excessive Burping, Breathlessness And Excessive Saliva?

Hi, I am a 26 year old female, suffering from a bad cold, but the symptoms are different than I ve had before. I have the usual ones like sore throat and runny nose, but I am also burping a lot, producing a lot of excess saliva, and having coughing fits where I struggle to breathe, lasting around 10minutes each time.

Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you with thanks for a consult!

I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns according to the latest medical guidelines.

If we get high acid content in the stomach it causes the throat irritation, flu like symptoms and excessive burping may be due to indigestion and excessive salivation too.

You need this time a proper treatment for GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) and acid induced inflammation and infection of the upper respiratory tract. If I was your treating physician for that I must have prescribed you with Azithromycin, Pantocid-L and Claritin by mouth.

Do gargles with Scope mouthwash and also do nasal douches with lukewarm water with added salt in it.

If you don't get better with these medicines you may need to consult an Otorhinolaryngologist. If needed he may test you too for stomach infection due to h.pylori bacteria which is the main cause of high acid in stomach and GERD.

Hope I answered all of your questions. Please click on 'I Find This Answer Helpful' and don't forget to add your precious positive feedback to help me able to assist you better in future too.
