What Causes Episodes Of Sharp Pain In The Right Shoulder?

Hi I have been having episodes of severe sharp pain in my right shoulder blade. Usually the pain is also present in my right jaw. Sometimes feel a lump in the throat. Went to the ER several months ago with it . They checked heart and for gallstones and everything came back negative. I am almost 31 weeks pregnant and have noticed this more while pregnant. Was initially diagnosed with severe acid reflux and have been on zantac 150mg every 12 hours but doesn t seem to be helping. Pain comes out of nowhere (not triggered by food as far as I can tell) and can last anywhere from 2-8 hours. It can also come and go. What else could this be? I have had approx 8 severe episodes since being pregnant. Thank you.

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Read and understood that your have a problem of right shoulder pain and pain in the right jaw. This is so much so that is enhanced during pregnancy, had been to ER and they found nothing, Started on Zantac 150 for severe reflux.
The pain is in the right shoulder *blade. This is the point that can have referred pain due to esophagitis as you already have symptoms of GERD that is gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Increased intra-abdominal pressure due to pregnancy can enhance the effects of the GERD.
Zantac helps only to reduce the acidity, GERD will need additional therapy in tehform of :
Avoid hot and spicy food,
light soft diet.
Motility regulator like Domperidone and antacid will further help.
Being pregnant may not allow for Endoscopy.
This will help to get control over sharp pain in the right shoulder blade.
