What Causes Enlarged Thyroid?

Hi there, my friend's daughter got a hyperthyriod (enlarged). The docter recommend radioactivity treatment. We want to know what causes the enlargement - how to prevent it and what to look out for in her dieet? Is there any other more natural cure?

Good day,
Noted your question. Enalargement in a thyroid gland can be either due to overactivity or underactivity of gland as well as due to nodules in the gland. In this case, since someone recommended radio iodine treatment, i guess it is Grave's disease ( auto immune thyroid disease) which cause thyroid enlargement.
Prevention is often not possible in this case ( as it is an auto imune disease) and diet modification has no major role here. There are no other natural cure. However you may enquire with a naturopathy practinoner. ( i will not recommend this). Radio iodine treatment is safe.
