What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?

Hi, I am 70 years old, 88 kg weight and 178 cm high, my routine check up over the years shows my SGPT and SGOT are below 30U/L, today I found both to be 61 U/L.All other blood chemistry figures are normal. my diet is not heavy in fats and I do some swimming weekly.
I switched from simvastatin +Ezitimibe (10+10) to Atorvastatin + Ezitimibe (10+10) since few months.
I had angina since 12 years and implanted two stents, I am on Aspirin, Tritace, Concor, Buspar, Duxil, multivitamins. I also started Xanax since one month. Can you advise me about the significance of this elevated enzymes and the remedy?. Thank you very much

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. In the elderly, elevation of liver enzymes upto 2-3 times is normal and not to be worried about.
2. You are maintaining a good routine, and as the blood chemistry is good, continue the values.
3. The medications are not the cause. Continue the medications as prescribed. Followup the test for liver enzymes, after a month, if elevated, then further study might be necessary. Now, not to worry. Its normal for your age.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
