What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes And Itching On The Hands?

Hi, my wife is 31 years old and she is 20 weeks pregnant, this week did her liver test and found slight high sgtl/sotl (50/35 U/liter) normal range were (sgtl- 1-35 u/l) (sotl- 1-32 u/l), however she never feel itching on her hand, but we did this test because her feet start swelling after end of first trimester. We also check her BP which is normal (120/77), she don t have swelling anywhere else, to make sure preeclampsia symptoms. I did ultrasound as part of anamoly scan in 19th week and baby was doing great. Doctor asked for another round of LFT in 23rd week. Please answer what should I do, what are all these symptoms of and can I predict a healthy delivery for both mother and child.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern

Since your wife is 20 weeks pregnant, I am sure she must already have been tested for hepatitis. So hepatitis is not a worry.
The SGOT and SGPT levels are not too concerning right now. However, it is important to keep close monitoring of liver function to see if there is worsening of liver enzyme levels. Please be advised to repeat liver function test as scheduled.
Itching is common during pregnancy. The dryness of the skin can contribute to itching.Always keep the skin moisturixmzed.Using a humidifier can also help.

Hope this answers your question
