What Causes Elevated Heart Rate?

I have noticed that in the past 6-8 months my heart rate has increased especially upon wakening and during the day. I am a male age 67 and a year ago my average heart rate was 65-78 and now I average 80-92. It also fluctuates when I take my blood pressure in the mornings. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to Healthcare magic . Thank you for posting your query.
I can understand your concern.

Do not worry much.
The normal heart rate ranges from 60-100 beats per minute. You should be worried once it goes above 100.

Go for regular blood pressure checkups.

Get an Electrocardiogram done.

I would suggest you to report to a clinician if you have symptoms like chest pain, dizziness, palpitation or breathlessness. Your doctor will be able to correlate clinically.

Post any other question. We will be happy to help.
Have a nice day. Regards.
