Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an extensive cardiac history. I am 47. In fact I was in today for a Contrast CT scan for my 6 month check up on My transplanted Aortic valve as well as to check on two anuerisms in my Aortic arch. They appear to be unchanged. My question is, tonight as I sit in my chair, my heart rate has been from 92 to 99. No other symptoms. BP was 142/77 My normal is BP 128/80 and pulse of between 66 and 72. I am not under any excessive stress and can't think of why it is that hi. Is this something I should be immediately concerned about. To add, I don't drink or smoke. I am on Coumadin for the synthetic valve and I had stroke in 2004.
** 1. faster heart rate is common when using a contrast agent with a slightly higher iodine concentration during CT scan and there is a very close relationship between heart rate and image quality in coronary CT angiography i.e.: higher the heart rate, lower the image quality.
2. make sure to get tested for Hashimoto's antibodies since most of the people with the disease can't tolerate any supplemental iodine, as it may cause reactions, and since you are on blood thinner check with INR [international normalized ratio]
