What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

why is my blood pressure reading higher in the doctor s office than at home? I use the arm cuff and also a wrist monitor. I get 159/74/65 and lower. The nurse and doctor s equipment show over 200/90/70. They want to put me on medication. I don t want to take pills. I exercise and eat using the DASH diet recommendations. I am a concerned senior over age 70.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Good day and thank you for posting this question. It might be the sphygmomanometer you use at home is faulty. You might need to start taking pills, even if it's just one, it will help in bringing down your blood pressure.
I hope it helps.
Thank you.
