What Causes Elevated C Reactive Protein Levels Causing Myalgia With Statin Intake?

I am a nurse practitioner who is 69. I have a very elevated C REactive Protein level, and react with terrible myalgia when taking statins. What could be the cause of this inflammatory condition? My internal medicine provider is stumped. No RA, no Lymes disease, no Lupus.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
C-reactive protein elevation is due to ongoing inflammation in the body. It might not be directly related to statin intake.
Intake of statins causes side effects like muscle pain, joint pain, diarrhoea and upset stomach. For this you may have to alter the dose accordingly by lowering it. You can repeat c-reactive protein investigation again after a month.
Kindly consult Physician in this regard for assistance.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
