What Causes Elevated BP And Numbness In Arm?

I am a 40 year old woman who has had health issues for a while now. Today I checked my blood pressure and it was 189/119. I had a headache earlier, but I attributed it to not eating at that time. Now my left arm and hand feels like it s trying to go numb on me. I have my daughter typing this right now.

Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.

At present your blood pressure is alarming and should be controlled immediately. Numbness in left arm may be a sign of early stroke also . so you should consult your doctor immediately.

Headache might be due to uncontrolled blood pressure but your doctor might advice you CT scan to rule out any other possibilities.

My advice to you is -

1. Consult your doctor immediately and he will do your ecg and all routine check up.
CT scan or MRI may be required to rule out the cause of Numbness of arm, which may be a stroke.

2 . Continue your blood pressure medications lifelong and do regular check up once your blood pressure is under controlled..

Thank you.
Have a nice day.
