What Causes Ear Pain After A Root Canal Procedure?

I recently had a root canal but it s been fixed and I have no pain at all on that tooth any longer. I have been getting ear pain for along time on the same side. I went recently to the doctor and they said that I didn t have an ear infection. But my inner ear hurts. It hurts inside my ear when I drink cold water and not my teeth. And when I swallow I feel like that same side my throat is slight sore but just on that same side.

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of ear pain after a root canal procedure which seems to be due to presence of infection in tooth underwent RCT as sometimes residual infection left behind which keeps on causing mild pain in that area.

I would suggest you to visit dentist once again and complete oral examination done and go for X-ray of that particular tooth to check level of infection and go for re treatment. Till then maintain complete oral hygiene and go for proper antibiotic course to subside infection. Apply warm compresses on external ear. Avoid pricking ear.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
