What Causes Ear Infection And Deafness?

my hearing loss started right before Thanksgiving left ear just started out like I was getting ear infection but did not get full infection or a cold then about 2 days later I lost hearing in right ear. I went to ENT for past few months all they told me to do was use saline and nose spray. I can hear alittle bit better in left ear but, he said no fluid in either ear and that my ear drums are not working. He did not say why he thought it happened and just said I will need hearing aids. I am only 47 yrs old and it just happened there was no trauma or anything else so not sure what to do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your experience with hearing loss in both ears following being skeptic about a previous infection of the ear I am suggesting that you have developed the following differential diagnosis

Vestibular neuronitis
Menieres disease
Vestibulococlers nerve palsy
Otitis media

In view of this please schedule an ENT specialist consult with laboratory investigations as well as adequate drug prescription

I hope this helps Regards
