What Causes Ear Blockage When Suffering From Bronchitis?

I was diagnosed with bronchitis yesterday. Was given z pack, and an inhaler . Tonight my right ear became a little blocked and uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to open it? I took Aleve a little while ago because my throat felt swollen from coughing . YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

Z pack is containing the antibiotic azythromycin that will help fight infection including bronchitis and ear infection if present.

Having blocked ear is due to congested sinuses as there is a connection between them.

Inhaler will help get your sinuses decongested and the ear will get opened.

Blow your nose slowly, do not suck the nasal secretions. Keep your head up to alleviate the sinus pressure.

Aleve will help with swollen throat and pain.

If the symptoms will persist, should consult with your physician to check your ears for related co-infection.

Wish fast recovery!
