What Causes Ear Aches And Headaches?

I have what I was told is foliate papille on my tongue. The bumps have been there since about mid-November 2012. My Dentist said it is nothing to worry about. On New years eve ,I had a dental emergency, extreme pain under one of my rear teeth. Also pain in all my gums. The tooth was extracted on Jan 7 2013. I was given 7 days of 500mg Amoxicillian. I took them all.My gums still hut somewhat, and I have been getting earaches and headaches about 3 or4 times a week. The back of my tongue is swollen. and the Papille are still there. One more thing, my vision seems to be getting blurry in my left eye.I am 56 years old.I don`t know if it`s age or connected to my other problems I am taking klonopin for about 5 months 0.50 4x daily, Ritilin 20 mg 2x daily, and percocet 10/325 3x almost daily. I stopped the klonipin 3 days and it seemed to get better, I`m not really sure . Could you please help. I am worried, I am a long time smoker. quit for 12 days no change, now I smoke only about 3 or 4 per day. Will be quitting soon. Please, I need an answer Thank You Very Much. I.B.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of ear aches and headaches which can occur due to accumulation of ear wax, ear fluid, ear infection to more serious condition like acoustic neuroma. It could be due to dental infection of molar tooth region and smoking is contributing factor for your condition. Need not to worry. If your symptoms and episodes of earache are getting frequent then you should consult ENT specialist and start treatment after prescription. Doctor may order certain test like audiometry , CT scan ,MRI , low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss , exposure to loud noises , earwax buildup , middle ear infection. Maintain hygiene and avoid pricking it with sharp object. Doctor may treat it according to the diagnosis , may prescribe medicine antibiotics.
