What Causes Dry Skin While On Tretiva For Facial Acne?
Hello sir....actually m facing acne and have consumed tretiva for it but I guess have taken a very high dose of 25 mg.....because of which my skin has dried a lot specially around lips & chin....please guide how to get rid of the dried skin as its bit painful also
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your query drying of skin is a side effect of Tretiva that is a retinoid containing Isotretinoin and you are being given a very high dose and such a high dose is ideally not given to treat acne.. I would suggest you to consult your treating Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and reduce the dose of the medication.. As the skin is dried you can start applying emollient creams and ointments on the face.. You can do cool compresses to reduce inflammation and pain.. You can also apply cooled aloevera gel.. You can take a multivitamin tablet daily... Calamine lotion can help in soothing the skin.. For acne you can start applying creams containing Benzoyl peroxide and Clindamycin over the pimples..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
