What Causes Dry Mouth And Breathlessness?

Hi. I'm a 17 yr old female. Haven't been able to breath through my nose in 6 weeks. The congestion lasts all day. For the past couple of days my chest and throat have been feeling tight. Kind of breathless and dry mouth, too. I used to have asthma and acid reflux. No allergies to anything. What could this be? Thanks.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain congestion can be caused due to sinus infection causing inflammation in the sinus, fluid accumulation causing congestion..
Breathlessness and tight feeling in chest and throat can be due to respiratory tract infection, bronchitis as well as can be due to acid reflux..
Dry mouth seems to be due to mouth breathing as in absence of nasal breathing you spontaneously tend to breathe from mouth leading to dryness in mouth..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and after a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like MRI or PNS View of sinuses, chest x-ray, nasal endoscopy etc can help in confirming the diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can do steam inhalations, saline nasal spray or irrigation as it will loosen the mucous and ease in drainage..
You can take decongestnat like Phenylephrine oral as well as nasal..
For dry mouth drink plenty of water and chew sugarfree chewing gum..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
