What Causes Dry Itchy Scalp And Severe Cold In Patient With Autism Spectrum?

I have a daughter in autism spectrum (non-verbal) 22 yrs old. Over a week ago it first started with her itching her head mostly in the back of the head. Checked for lice but did not have that and her head doesn t look dry or flaky. She than got a head cold. She has not been eaten well for quite some time but now hardly eats or drinks. It has been a week now and she now has the cough. She has not had any energy and the last few days sleeping a lot and when she is awake she is crabby. Any suggestions? P.S. VERY hard to get blood tests done!

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that her symptoms could be related to an allergic reaction on an infection.

I would recommend trying an antiallergic drug.

If her symptoms are improved, there is nothing to worry about.
It is also important to monitor her body temperature. Fever would indicate an infection and possible need of antibiotics.

Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
