What Causes Dry Hacking Cough, Sore Throat And Throat Pain?

I had they think was the Norwalk virus 4 weeks ago took cipro(thought it was just food poisoning-which helped in that department then got a UTI- Took Macrodantin..felt better in that department then develpoed larynxgitis then the worst sore throat and tested negative for strept. I have had a dry hacking cough and runny nose and my throat still hurts on one spot near my right side of my adams apple or the thyroid gland..Oh in the process of all this I lost 6 lbs. What is happening with my throat?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dry hacking cough, sore throat and throat pain is due to upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you take nasal decongestant sprays, Antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present. Co amoxiclav is best treatment option. You should take steam inhalation. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get chest X-ray and pulmonary function tests done to check extent of infection and start treatment accordingly. Do warm saline gargles. You should take Take Diphenhydramine and Dextromethorphan for 4-5 days. Maintain proper hygiene and avoid cold liquids and spicy food.
