What Causes Dry Cough With Throat Irritation?

My husband suffering from a chronic dry cough for a long time, often having phelgam, but throat irritation and coughing is there always, his BP is normal, No breathing problem except during coughing. He feels something is there in throat and always try to clear the same by coughing

Persistent coughing can be related to : (1) post nasal drip of mucus. Some persons may not be aware of the drip. This is the most common cause of chronic cough
It is treated with the use of topical steroid nasal spray and oral anti histamine

(2)asthma- this is also a cause of coughing

(3)GERD- gastroesophageal reflux disease- this is also a cause of coughing. There may be additional symptoms such as burning sensation in the chest, acid taste in the mouth, bloating.
Some may only have coughing.

You can try treating for post nasal drip first.
