Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Your symptoms could be due to viral or allergic bronchitis. If it is not associated with fever, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest congestion then nothing to worry and take following advises for next 7 days. Take Cough syrup containing Guaifenesin and Dextromethorphan (Q tussin CF).

Drink plenty of lukewarm water and gargling with Betadine-Steam inhalation 3 to 4 times a day-Strepsil throat lozenges (neem and honey flavor): take every 3 hourly.

Avoid cold beverages and exposure to pollutants. If the cough persists despite using the above medication then further workup would be required by consulting the pulmonologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
