What Causes Drowsiness And Fatigue While Taking Desipramine?
i quit drinking cofee months ago because it made my anxiety worse. i was prescribed desipramine for depression. i started drinking cofee about a month agoand now it makes me drowsy and to the point i dont want to get out of bed and very fatigued could this be a chemical imbalance or could it be the desipramine or a mixture of both
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Desipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant drug. The drug is known to cause sedation, fatigue, tiredness in some individuals. Even while on the drug your symptoms are persistent so there is need for reevaluation. Coffee can increase the anxiety but the drug has not much significant interactions with Desipramine. You can discuss with your psychiatrist for re-evaluation. Medicines like SSRIs as Fluoxetine, Paroxetine etc can prove useful for persisting anxiety. For symptomatic relief of anxiety medicines like Clonazepam can help. As drowsiness is a concern then medicines like Propranolol can be used. The drug helps to reduce the anxiety and doesn't cause sedation. Please consult your psychiatrist for prescription.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
