What Causes Drowsiness After Having Ativan?
My Son is 34 yrs old......the Dr;s at the hospital put him on ativan cause he was freaking out and scared and his bp was pretty high...they put him on ativan and all he wants to do is sleep..awake for a few minutes and says he wants to go back to sleep and he does....Is this normal?.....I took him to the hospital because his gallbladder was was bothering him......He has had a problem drinking but had since quit......he is the type of person that when reading things he thinks he has it..so due to his reading he thought maybe he had stomach cancer..of which he didnt... but the question is is it normal to sleep alot while taking ativan...thank you in advance..Carol

ATIVAN ( LORAZEPAM ) is a high potency benzodiazipine and is used for the treatment of anxiety disorders and as anticonvulsant also.
Sedation is the most common side effect of this drug and is the most common complaint by the patients using it,however person gradually develops tolerance towards it.
